Senior Software Engineer, Communications Service

The Senior Software Engineer in the Manage domain will help build out our vision through the development and ownership of our communications service. This service provides an internal API for our products and services to work with our customer organization data. This role requires understanding of security best practices, including PII compliance to protect our users. 50% of the time is dedicated to building and improving service APIs. 25% of the time is dedicated to planning, documenting, and working with various stakeholders including product developers across the organization. The last 25% is dedicated to helping more junior developers with technical guidance through pairing and code reviews.


  • Build GraphQL APIs within the service and integrate with our API gateway
  • Build unit tests to ensure quality of work
  • Document endpoints as needed, including writing self documenting code
  • Support existing APIs
  • Provide suggestions on roadmap priorities and improvements
  • Work with developers from across the organization to understand and document their challenges
  • Estimate internally in the dev pod to develop a timeline the pod is able to commit to
  • Own service change management and uptime
  • Provide technical and architectural guidance to more junior developers
  • Pair program with more junior developers to help drive projects across the finish line
  • Follow technical best practices and standards
  • Work with engineering manager to gather metrics as needed
  • Maintain a positive and respectful culture


  • 6+ years of professional experience building APIs utilizing NodeJS and/or Typescript
  • 3+ years of professional experience building GraphQL APIs
  • 3+ years professional experience working in a team to achieve goals together (no lone ranger / hero type)
  • 2+ years experience working with Jira to document and break down development work
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar field OR equivalent experience
  • Clear understanding of the full lifecycle of software development
  • Strong understanding of security best practices, and the ability to deliver quality development work
  • Any experience with Omnichannel communications and/or translation services is a huge plus
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • High ability to tolerate the occasional dad joke or pun
  • Understanding of event driven systems a plus
